Join us as a Data Modeller
Join a team that is shaping the future of party and customer data management for the bank, where you’ll be a subject matter expert of data modelling and standards
Working closely with our business analysts and data management specialists, you’ll translate data requirements into structured representations of data using data modelling tools.
You’ll participate in data design review workshops, and you’ll have ownership of data design and data models across different areas.
This is an opportunity to develop your analytical skills in an engaging role while helping us to avoid data risk.
With valuable exposure, you’ll be building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank to ensure alignment to enterprise data architecture and data modelling standards and practices
This role will be available for a period of 12 months
What you'll do
We’re embarking on a new and exciting phase of the bank’s data transformation agenda and party, customer and reference data are at the heart of our mission to simplify, reduce risk and enable customer engagement and personalisation. This agenda is critical to driving simplification and delivering exceptional experience to our customers.
As a Data Modeller, you will play a key role in contributing to the Bank’s federated common data model by developing semantic models and shared business models for common concepts. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing data models while supporting data architects with innovative solutions. Additionally, you will participate in data quality investigations and assist subject matter experts and data owners in managing content effectively.
You’ll support adoption, enforcement and governance of enterprise data model and data standards across the bank and act as the expert in data modelling for the bank.
As well as this you’ll:
Collaborate with business analysts and data management specialists to translate data requirements
Take ownership for data modelling and data contract creation
Adopt the enterprise data model and standards
Identify and mitigate potential data risks
The skills you'll need
You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues, along with a good understanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working in an Agile team. You’ll also have financial industry business data knowledge.
We’re looking for a someone with strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills and experience in data modelling or data architecture. Along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll have knowledge of conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling. You’ll also be proficient in at least one UML or data modelling tool such as ErWin, SparxEA, or Power Designer.
Furthermore, you’ll demonstrate:
An understanding of data modelling methodologies including 3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault, Key-Value pair, and NoSQL Document Store
An understanding of one or more industry models such as IFW, Teradata, IFW, or BIAN
Experience in Financial services, especially Banking domain
Experience of designing technical and operational Metadata models
Data Governance experience, ensuring data quality, data lineage and metadata are captured and maintained
Knowledge of aligning business needs to BSBC239
A thorough knowledge of data management principles and standards
