Job Title: Data Scientist – Contract (3 Days/Week), Hybrid – Canary Wharf Location: Canary Wharf (Hybrid) Engagement: Contract Working Model: 3 days a week (Hybrid) Job Description We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join on a contract basis, working 3 days a week in a hybrid setup in Canary Wharf. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in classical machine learning, deep expertise in Python, and solid experience with leading data science and machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and pandas. Strong data visualization and storytelling capabilities are essential. Responsibilities • Develop, optimise, and deploy classical machine learning models. • Write robust Python code following object-oriented programming (OOP) principles. • Work extensively with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, and other ML libraries. • Produce clear data visualizations and deliver insightful storytelling presentations. • Partner with technical and non-technical teams to deliver measurable data science outcomes. • If not experienced in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), apply deeper ML expertise for LLM/NLP tasks. • Support model tuning, validation, and production workflows. Must-Haves • Strong foundation in classical machine learning (repeat: classical machine learning). • Proven experience in Python (repeat: Python, Python). • Hands-on experience with major data science and machine learning tools: • TensorFlow • PyTorch • scikit-learn • pandas • Ability to build clear, compelling data visualizations and deliver strong storytelling. • Solid understanding of OOP in Python. • If lacking RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) experience, must compensate with strong machine learning depth. Nice-to-Haves • Practical hands-on experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). • Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and NLP systems.
