Overview
Our client is seeking a Data Scientist to join their Data Science and Analytics team on a 9-month fixed term contract. This role will focus on applying advanced data science and modelling techniques to address key business and customer challenges, with a particular focus on identifying and preventing potential misuse within customer schemes.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across multiple business areas, providing actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Build machine learning models to provide insights into customer behaviour, including scheme misuse, electric vehicle adoption, and affordability.
β’ Apply statistical methods (e.g., regression, hypothesis testing) to analyse customer behaviour and preferences.
β’ Create dashboards that communicate insights and highlight customer behaviour trends.
β’ Use Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques such as sentiment analysis and topic modelling to analyse customer research data.
β’ Clearly explain modelling processes, assumptions, and methodologies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Support ad hoc requests for customer insights and data analysis across the business.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements
β’ Degree in Applied Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
β’ Strong experience in applying machine learning to structured and unstructured data.
β’ Proficiency in Python and SQL.
β’ Experience working with cloud-based data stores such as Snowflake.
β’ Proven analytical problem-solving skills.
Ideal Skills & Experience
β’ Hands-on experience with machine learning model development and implementation.
β’ Familiarity with platforms such as AWS Sagemaker.
β’ Strong stakeholder management and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Demonstrated examples where insights and analysis influenced business outcomes.
Working Environment
β’ Hybrid working model with the option to work remotely up to two days per week.
β’ Collaboration with colleagues across data science, analytics, insurance, repairs, commercial operations, and customer services teams.
