Data Scientist

BIICS, Inc is looking to fill a Data Scientist position. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida and work is onsite. Responsibilities: Perform epidemiologic data requests. Provide epidemiologic and analytic support to develop surveillance data products. Conduct biostatistical analyses and system evaluations in collaboration with client staff. Provide oral or written summaries of epidemiological analyses to client staff. Develop epidemiological research methods to analyze, interpret, and report on data. Participate in the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologist’s (CSTE) Surveillance/Informatics Steering Subcommittee and other surveillance focused subcommittees. Perform additional assignments as requested. Potential candidate must possess the following: Master's degree in informatics, data science, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related technical or quantitative field. A minimum of three years of experience utilizing data programming and data visualization software, such as R, SAS, SQL, Python, Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI. Experience in performing analyses, evaluation of systems, projects, and programs. A minimum of two years of experience in data collection, data analysis techniques, data management and processing. Knowledge of data privacy and data security. A minimum of two years of experience in data extraction, manipulation, and transformation. Experience in research methodology, data communication and dissemination. A minimum of two years of experience developing data systems and data products. A minimum of two years of experience in the last five years with the Microsoft Office Suite; including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and PowerPoint. A minimum of two years of experience performing data science or informatics data work. Preferred: Advanced skills in Excel and power query preferred. Experience working in a specialty area, such as public health or healthcare; and/or working with data visualization software and programming may be desired.
