Role description
Position: Data Specialist – Data Provenance Employment Type: Contract, Full time Start: ASAP Location: Reading – Hybrid 3 days a week Languages: English Role – We are looking for a highly skilled Data Specialist to join our client’s Data Provenance team, focusing on Authoritative Data Sources (ADS). This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and maintaining trusted internal and external data sources to ensure they are credible, up-to-date, and aligned with NESO needs and data governance policies. Key skills: • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data sourcing or data flows/lineage. • Strong experience in data modelling (essential for entity-driven ADS). • Solid understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices. • Demonstrated ability to manage and engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. • Relevant certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP). • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. • Experience with data management tools and technologies. • Knowledge of data lineage practices. • Consulting background is a plus. • Strong communication skills (oral & written) • Rights to work in the UK is must (No Sponsorship available) Responsibilities: • Identify and discover authoritative data sources across internal and external domains. • Collaborate with data architects, data owners, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to assess and validate authoritative sources. • Develop, implement, and enforce governance policies and standards related to authoritative data sources. • Document data flows, provenance, and metadata to ensure transparency, traceability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. • Provide training and support to team members and data consumers on interpreting and leveraging authoritative data assets.
