POSITION STATEMENT: In this role, you will help us achieve our mission to change the way the world
defines and views disabilities by making profound, positive differences in peopleβs lives every day. You will be
responsible for collecting information, electronically collating it, converting it accurately into a useful format, and
sharing these findings with stakeholders. You will also be required to train staff on data storage procedures.
Essential Job Responsibilities
β’ The data specialist compiles, sorts, and verifies the accuracy of all data from Family
Service Coordination agencies meet EarlySteps guidelines.
β’ Maintains all Early Intervention records in accordance with applicable regulations under IDEA Family
Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Education Department General Accounting Rules
(EDGAR).
β’ Assures that hard copy documentation is consistent with Early Intervention Data Systems (EIDS) data.
β’ Enters information into specific files, resolving inconsistencies and reviewing data for errors using
standard data entry procedures.
β’ Assured documents received are filed appropriately, and files are maintained so that each childβs chart
and information is retrievable when necessary.
β’ Requests further information for documents deemed incomplete or inaccurate.
β’ Checks completed work for errors or duplicate information, comparing data with source documents.
β’ Locates and corrects data entry errors or reports them to the director.
β’ Answer incoming calls and handle according to office policy. Perform other duties as assigned by the
SPOE program manager.

spelling in written communication, exhibit appropriate use of grammar in oral communication,

β’ Planning β Establish effective objectives, priorities, and implement plans; anticipate obstacles

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
β’ Minimum of a high school diploma required, Some college education preferred.
β’ Strong typing, analytical, and computer skills.
β’ Basic electronic data entry skills as well as manual file organization and maintenance skills.
β’ Ability to enter and file data systematically in an accurate, consistent and timely manner.
β’ Ability to multitask, use personal judgment and utilize office resources including the EarlySteps
Practice Manual.
β’ Ability to operate equipment such as printers and facsimile machines.
β’ Willingness to ask for assistance of staff and management when needed.
β’ Eagerness to contribute information and discuss concerns openly, helping to expand the knowledge
base and expertise of the EarlySteps team.
