Role description
Codeworks is an IT Services firm headquartered in SE Wisconsin, known for our strong commitment to quality and for our direct client relationships. Who We’re Looking For: The Wisconsin DPI is hiring two Business Analysts to support its Data Warehouse and Decision Support (DWDS) team within the Bureau of Information Technology Services. The team manages the statewide longitudinal data system (SLDS) and platforms like WISEdash and Power BI, delivering education data to internal and public stakeholders. These contract roles focus on gathering requirements, defining scope, testing, and supporting the modernization of data reporting systems including the WISEdash Public Portal. Responsibilities Collaborate on an Agile/Scrum team to define, plan, and deliver project features. Translate reporting and software feature requests into user stories with clear acceptance criteria. Act as liaison between business units, technical teams, and external stakeholders. Estimate project phases, contribute to release planning, and document business processes. Create and execute test plans, including application and regression testing. Conduct data analysis and write SQL queries against relational databases. Support continuous improvement of data warehouse and reporting solutions. Qualifications Required (3–5 years of experience): Experience with data warehousing or dashboarding projects. Skilled in SQL and working with relational databases (SQL Server preferred). Proficiency in writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and estimating project phases. Strong skills in test planning, execution, and regression testing. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred: Experience creating solution options or recommendations based on business requirements. Familiarity with education sector reporting (K–12 or P20W environments). Experience with platforms such as Power BI or Microsoft Fabric. Strong meeting facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills. Additional Information Remote work with 1–2 in-person meetings/year in Madison, WI. Candidates must reside in Wisconsin (or relocate at their own expense before the start date).
