Compensation: $50 - $55 per hour
About The Role

This high-visibility role is ideal for a data and automation-minded problem solver who thrives at the intersection of analytics, AI tooling, and practical engineering support. You will be equally comfortable digging into SQL queries, prompting AI agents to automate workflows, and engaging directly with internal business customers to understand and address their needs. This is not a traditional data engineering roleβit's a dynamic opportunity for someone who can move fast, leverage modern AI coding tools, and help bridge the gap between rapid prototypes and production-ready applications. You will play a key role in building automations and AI agents, optimizing data processes, and collaborating with software developers to deliver impactful solutions.
What You'll Do
β’ Partner with internal business customers to understand data, automation, and reporting needs, translating them into actionable solutions
β’ Utilize AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) to prompt, build automations, and deploy AI agents that solve real business problems
β’ Write and optimize SQL queries for data analysis, reporting, and light data modeling
β’ Apply basic Python scripting to support automation and analytical tasks
β’ Collaborate with software developers to scale, harden, and productionize applications that began as rapid prototypes
β’ Work within GitHub and VS Code as part of the standard collaborative development workflow
β’ Operate across cloud environments, including Azure, GCP, and AWS, as engagements require
β’ Act as a go-to resource for internal teams looking to apply AI tooling to everyday data and automation challenges
β’ Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide customer-facing support
β’ Work on-site in Kansas City, MO, as part of a 12-month contract-to-hire engagement
What You Bring
β’ 5+ years of experience in a data analyst, automation, or similar hands-on technical role
β’ Strong working knowledge of SQL and basic data modeling concepts
β’ Proficiency in Python for automation and analysis tasks (analyst-level, not full data engineering depth)
β’ Demonstrated experience with AI coding/agent tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex), including strong prompt engineering skills
β’ Experience building or configuring AI agents to automate tasks or workflows
β’ Comfort working with GitHub and VS Code in a collaborative development environment
β’ Exposure to at least one major cloud platform (Azure, GCP, or AWS); familiarity with multiple is a plus
β’ Strong communication and customer-facing skills for working directly and frequently with internal stakeholders
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers to help mature prototype-stage applications
β’ Must be local to the Kansas City, MO area and available to work on-site
What's In It For You
β’ High-visibility, hands-on role with opportunities to work on cutting-edge AI and automation projects
β’ Collaborative, innovative environment with direct impact on business outcomes
β’ Potential for full-time conversion after the contract period
β’ Competitive hourly compensation
β’ On-site work in Kansas City, MO
