A leading organization in the digital media and broadcast technology industry is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support high-performance, mission-critical data platforms that power real-time content delivery, web applications, and internal enterprise systems.This role requires strong expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS Aurora, with proven experience operating in fast-paced, always-on production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and optimize MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Amazon Aurora databases across development, staging, and production environments.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance for databases supporting large-scale digital platforms.
Design and implement backup/restore, replication, and disaster recovery strategies, including multi-AZ configurations on AWS.
Tune and maintain Redis clusters, memory configuration, persistence, cache optimization, and eviction strategies.
Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and application teams to review schemas, optimize queries, and support release cycles.
Set up monitoring, performance dashboards, and alerts using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Datadog, New Relic, or similar tools.
Manage database security, encryption, user access, patching, and compliance controls.
Automate database tasks using Python/Bash scripts, AWS tools, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines.
Troubleshoot production performance issues, replication lag, slow queries, connection bottlenecks, and AWS-related incidents.
Participate in an on-call rotation and provide production support during peak traffic and urgent incidents.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of hands-on DBA experience supporting MySQL and PostgreSQL in production environments.
Strong proficiency with Amazon Aurora (MySQL/Postgres-compatible), including monitoring, scaling, and failover.
Deep understanding of Redis architecture, clustering, replication, and performance tuning.
Experience supporting large-scale, high-traffic, low-latency applications.Strong SQL optimization skills (indexing, execution plans, partitioning).
Solid working knowledge of AWS (RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, networking fundamentals).
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) and experience with DevOps/automation.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, etc.).
Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the media, streaming, broadcast, or digital content environment.AWS Certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect, DevOps).Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes or microservices architecture.Experience with schema migration tools (Liquibase, Flyway, AWS DMS).
Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
