Job Description:
Seeking a skilled Database Engineer with strong expertise in PostgreSQL to join our Performance Automation and SRE team. In this role, you will design, optimize, and manage high-performance database systems that power mission-critical applications. Youβll collaborate closely with SREs, automation engineers, and product teams to ensure our database infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure.
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
β’ Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures for performance and scalability.
β’ Monitor database performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks using automation and monitoring tools.
β’ Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies are in place.
β’ Partner with SRE and performance engineering teams to improve reliability and automate database operations.
β’ Implement best practices for database security, access control, and compliance.
β’ Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines with database-related components.
Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (design, performance tuning, replication, and clustering).
β’ Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database optimization techniques.
β’ Experience with Linux/Unix environments and scripting (Python, Shell, or similar).
β’ Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
β’ Exposure to SRE principles, observability tools, and automation frameworks.
β’ Excellent problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills:
β’ Experience with other databases (MySQL, NoSQL) is a plus.
β’ Knowledge of performance benchmarking and load testing frameworks.
β’ Background in CI/CD integration for database systems.
