Role: Environment Manager Location: Atlanta, GA (or) Bellevue, WA (3-5 days onsite) Job Type: Contract Must Have Skills β€’ Environment Management β€’ Release Management β€’ Platform Management β€’ Cost Optimization Job Description Environment Manager - Non-Production Environments Role Overview β€’ The Environment Manager owns the planning, scheduling, lifecycle, and cost optimization of all non-production environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Performance). β€’ This role is the key enabler for project/product delivery and test teams, ensuring environments are stable, available, and cost-effective. β€’ The Environment Manager works closely with technical towers (DBAs, Infra, Security, Network, Application) and DevOps teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and environment operations run smoothly. β€’ They are accountable for managing environment sharing, conflict resolution, and risk escalation, while also optimizing cloud and infrastructure costs. Key Responsibilities Environment Planning & Scheduling β€’ Own the NPE calendar (test cycles, releases, refreshes, maintenance). β€’ Partner with project/product delivery teams to allocate and prioritize environments. β€’ Manage environment sharing and contention across multiple teams. β€’ Highlight risks early (conflicts, capacity issues, performance impacts) and escalate as needed. Technical & DevOps Coordination β€’ Act as the single coordination point with DBAs, Infra, Network, Security, and Application teams for environment readiness. β€’ Partner with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines into environment usage and ensure test/dev deployments align with NPE governance. β€’ Ensure environments are provisioned, refreshed, and configured with all dependencies in place. Operational Ownership β€’ Oversee environment builds, refreshes, patching, and upgrades. β€’ Monitor environment health, availability, and performance in partnership with SREs. β€’ Ensure compliance with security, data, and audit standards. Cost & Optimization β€’ Accountable for cloud and environment cost optimization. β€’ Track actual vs. estimated usage. β€’ Right-size environments and reduce idle spend through automation and governance. Collaboration & Governance β€’ Partner with NPE Intake Analyst to validate demand forecasting and request feasibility. β€’ Partner with Change Manager to ensure approved changes fit environment schedules and readiness. β€’ Partner with Incident & Request Manager to address systemic environment issues identified via RCAs. Required Skills & Experience β€’ 6-8 years in Environment/Release/Platform Management with large-scale NPE coverage. β€’ Strong experience coordinating across technical teams (DBA, Infra, Network, Security). β€’ Proven track record working with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipeline integration and automation. β€’ Deep knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and environment orchestration. β€’ Hands-on experience managing shared environments and resolving contention. β€’ Strong understanding of cloud cost optimization/FinOps (AWS Cost Explorer, Kubecost, CloudHealth). β€’ Excellent stakeholder management, risk escalation, and communication skills.
