STRATEGIC STAFFING SOLUTIONS (S3) HAS AN OPENING! Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for an ESRI Configuration Specialist/Developer for a W2 contract opportunity with one of our largest clients! Job Title: ESRI Configuration Specialist/Developer Location: Minneapolis, MN (Relocation is accepted but at their own expense only.) Schedule: Remote/Hybrid Duration: 12 months, W2 contract. Experience: 5–7 years Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred Certifications: GIS certification is a nice-to-have. Experience in a utility setting (gas and electric) is desired in the absence of a degree. Position Overview: • Follows company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs. • Assists in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents to customize software to meet application requirements. • Reviews functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provide feedback. Collaborates with other development staff to achieve quality and consistency. • Participates in architecture, design and code reviews. • Develops and maintains operational and system level documentation. Analyzes systems specifications and designs, develops, modifies, and installs highly complex and customized software. • Actively participate in the escalation of live errors and service problems to limit downtime and resolve problems. Recognize and solve inconsistencies in the detailed technical specifications and propose changes. Must Have • 1. Proficient in Esri Software: • ArcGIS: Understanding its functionalities, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS API for JavaScript is essential. These tools are foundational for creating maps, analyzing spatial data, and building web applications • 2. Programming Languages: • Python: Widely used for scripting in ArcGIS and automating tasks. Familiarity with ArcPy (a Python site package for ArcGIS) can significantly enhance productivity and enable complex geospatial analyses. • JavaScript: Essential for developing interactive web mapping applications. Knowledge of frameworks like React or libraries like Leaflet can be helpful for modern GIS web applications. • SQL: Understanding database management and SQL is crucial for querying spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS) commonly used in conjunction with GIS applications. • 3. Database Management: • Familiarity with spatial databases like PostGIS, ESRI SDE helps in managing geographic data effectively. Understanding data storage and retrieval processes is crucial for any GIS application that relies on backend databases. • 4. Web Development Skills: • A grasp of HTML/CSS for frontend development and RESTful services for integrating with various APIs will enable developers to create comprehensive web applications that serve geographic data efficiently. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Nice To Have 1. Spatial Analysis and Geographic Concepts: • An in-depth understanding of geographic concepts, spatial data types, and methods for spatial analysis is crucial. Knowledge of tools for performing spatial statistics, proximity analysis, and map overlay is advantageous 1. Remote Sensing and Data Visualization: • Experience with remote sensing data processing and visualization will benefit developers working with geospatial intelligence.
