We are seeking a ETL Developer to modernize ETL processes for a Medicaid analytical and reporting data mart. The work includes converting existing ETL processes, developing new SQL/Python-based solutions, and preparing for future cloud migrations (AWS → Azure).
The data mart supports Medicaid analytics and reporting, integrating claims and enrollment data from the state’s Medicaid management and information system. Analysts also access data through a Medicaid data warehouse and decision support environment, which stores raw transactional data. The data mart enhances this information with analytical groupings for easier reporting and analysis.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Analyze existing data mart systems, including data models, schemas, ETLs, and reporting environment.
• Collaborate with project teams, management, and end users to gather business/technical requirements.
• Document system, data, and integration requirements for improvements.
• Design, develop, and implement new ETL code/packages.
• Migrate ETL processes from SAS to SQL/Python stored procedures, ensuring modular design.
• Review, update, and test new SQL-based ETL processes in development and production environments.
1. Required Skills & Experience:Advanced SQL Development – 7–10+ years in SQL programming and Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures and complex ETL logic.
1. ETL Process Modernization – Migration from legacy SAS to SQL/Python, modular code design, and performance optimization.
1. Python Programming – 7–10+ years of experience for data processing, automation, and integration.
1. Healthcare/Medicaid Data Expertise – Understanding of claims, enrollment, eligibility, and national coding standards.
1. Data Warehousing – Experience designing and maintaining analytical data environments and reporting data marts.
1. Version Control & DevOps Tools – Proficiency with Microsoft DevOps, GIT, or similar tools for code management.
1. Collaboration & Communication – Ability to work with business teams, data owners, and technical staff in a government/public health setting.
