Role description
ONLY W2 (NO C2C/1099) Role: Sr. Network Engineer Contact: 12 to 24 months (FTE conversion possibility) Client location: Concord, CA (Hybrid working model – 3 days each week onsite) Job Summary: Our client seeks a skilled and dynamic Network Engineer with a deep understanding of modern network infrastructure, application delivery platforms, and automation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with F5 Load Balancers, AVI Networks, Akamai CDN, Apache web servers, Service Mesh architectures (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), and CI/CD pipelines. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network solutions supporting scalable, secure, high-performance applications across hybrid cloud environments. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage load balancing and application delivery solutions using F5 BIG-IP and AVI Networks (NSX Advanced Load Balancer). Manage and optimize Akamai CDN configurations to improve application performance and global delivery. Collaborate with DevOps and Application teams to integrate network components into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools. Support Apache web server deployments, configurations, and troubleshooting. Design and maintain Service Mesh infrastructure to facilitate secure and reliable service-to-service communications. Monitor and analyze traffic patterns and performance metrics, implement tuning strategies, and proactively identify network issues. Develop and maintain automation scripts and templates for network provisioning and configuration. Ensure network solutions comply with security, compliance, and performance standards. Collaborate cross-functionally to support migrations, cloud integrations, and enterprise-scale network deployments. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering or application delivery. Proficient in F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM, iRules, and AVI Networks (VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer). Solid experience with Akamai CDN configuration and optimization. Strong understanding of Apache HTTP Server, virtual hosts, and SSL/TLS configuration. Hands-on experience with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio, Consul, or Linkerd. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools. Experience with scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform). Solid grasp of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.) and security principles. Comfortable working in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in F5 (CTS/CA), Cisco (CCNP/CCIE), or cloud networking (AWS/GCP/Azure Certified). Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift) and microservices architecture. Familiarity with Zero Trust Networking and API Gateway configurations. Exposure to monitoring tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus, or Grafana.
