We are seeking a seasoned Audio DSP Engineer to support advanced in-vehicle infotainment and sound system development. As an independent contractor, you’ll contribute directly to the design, implementation, and tuning of real-time DSP pipelines, helping deliver premium in-car audio experiences that meet the demands of next-generation vehicles.
This role is ideal for someone with strong embedded DSP expertise, hands-on experience with Audio Weaver, and the ability to collaborate across acoustics, software, and hardware teams in fast-moving project environments.
At Mavsotech, we believe that engineering excellence depends on deep expertise, clarity of purpose, and strong partnerships. If you’re excited to help shape the future of automotive audio, read the responsibilities and requirements bellow. If you think this is a fit, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
• System Integration: Collaborate with hardware, software, and acoustics teams to embed DSP into full infotainment systems. Work closely with SoC vendors and ecosystem partners.
• Embedded Implementation: Convert prototypes from MATLAB or Python into optimized C/C++ for production deployment on embedded DSP platforms.
• Performance Optimization: Debug DSP pipelines, profile system performance, and resolve integration or stability issues across the audio chain.
• Audio Tuning & Calibration: Use Audio Weaver for modeling and tuning. Conduct lab and in-vehicle sessions to achieve optimal acoustic performance.
• DSP Algorithm Design: Develop and fine-tune real-time DSP algorithms for playback, spatial sound, noise suppression, beamforming, echo cancellation, and post-processing.
• Communication & Documentation: Clearly report progress and challenges. Maintain documentation and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
Must-Have Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in embedded DSP, ideally in automotive or audio applications
• Solid grasp of DSP theory and audio processing techniques (filters, FFTs, adaptive filtering, AEC, etc.)
• Strong C/C++ programming skills with embedded system toolchains
• Familiarity with automotive-grade audio platforms (e.g., Qualcomm Hexagon, ARM-based SoCs)
• Knowledge of infotainment architectures, A2B networks, and multi-zone audio systems
• Hands-on experience with DSP Concepts’ Audio Weaver for system design and tuning
• Excellent debugging and cross-discipline collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Android audio frameworks (Audio HAL, ALSA, media layers)
• Experience with ASPICE
• Exposure to immersive/spatial audio formats and workflows
• Knowledge of voice UI, recognition systems, or ML models applied to audio
Location & Availability
Candidates located near San Jose, CA are strongly preferred due to the need for occasional on-site collaboration during early project phases.
Remote work is supported, with travel required as project demands.
Contract Details
This is a 1099 independent contractor role.
Work will be project-based, and candidates must be legally authorized to contract in the U.S. This is not a W-2 employee position.
