Role description
About Buildable Engine Buildable Engine is building the intelligence layer the construction industry never had. We ingest building plans into a spatial graph that encodes geometry and spatial relationships, then make it queryable — enabling compliance checking, buildability risk detection, design optimization, and return impact modeling in seconds rather than weeks. Our core technology is patent pending and we're in active use with institutional developers in New York. The Opportunity We're looking for an experienced plugin engineer to bring Buildable Engine's intelligence directly into the tools architects and designers already use. The first phase of this work focuses on Revit — creating native plugin experiences that allow users to run Buildable Engine analyses without leaving their design environment. This is an independent contract engagement. You'll work directly with the founder and technical team, own the plugin architecture end to end, and have real impact on how a category-defining platform reaches its core users. What You'll Build • A Revit add-in (using the Revit API / .NET) that connects to the Buildable Engine backend, allowing users to submit models for analysis and receive compliance, buildability, and design intelligence results directly within Revit • A clean, intuitive UI layer within each plugin that surfaces Buildable Engine outputs in a way that fits naturally into design workflows • API integration with Buildable Engine's existing backend infrastructure What We're Looking For • Demonstrated experience building production Revit add-ins using the Revit API and .NET (C# preferred) • Strong understanding of BIM data structures, geometry representation, and how design tools expose spatial data • Ability to design and implement clean REST API integrations • Experience working independently on greenfield plugin projects — you can scope, architect, and deliver without heavy oversight • Strong plus: Familiarity with AEC workflows • Strong plus: Experience building SketchUp extensions using the SketchUp Ruby API or C++ SDK What This Is Not This is not a feature addition to an existing plugin. You'll be building from scratch, integrating with a novel spatial reasoning backend. The right person finds that exciting, not daunting. Engagement • Estimated scope: TBD based on initial discovery conversation. Possible transition to full time roll upon successful completion of the project. • Remote, async-friendly with regular check-ins with the founder and technical lead
