Role description
We are looking for a GCP Senior Data Engineer to join a long-term initiative focused on improving member experience in healthcare. This project is designed to provide a βwhite gloveβ level of support by proactively identifying members who may need assistance with claims, medications, prior authorizations, or other benefits-related challenges. Leveraging advanced data pipelines and alerting systems, the program ensures members are connected directly with real agents to resolve issues quickly and seamlessly.
The first release of this platform is planned for January 1, 2026, and the project will continue to evolve as a long-term strategic initiative.
Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines and workflows in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with flexibility to work across AWS or Azure as needed.
β’ Leverage BigQuery, Airflow, and Composer to build scalable data solutions.
β’ Write and optimize complex SQL queries and develop advanced Python-based data transformations.
β’ Work with healthcare data including claims, clinical, HL7, PHI/PCI, lab data, and pharmacy data.
β’ Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into effective data-driven solutions.
β’ Independently design and implement technical solutions, from architecture to delivery.
β’ Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare standards.
β’ Proactively identify problems, propose solutions, and drive initiatives forward with minimal oversight.
Qualifications
β’ 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or related fields.
β’ Strong, hands-on expertise in SQL and Python.
β’ Senior-level experience with BigQuery, Airflow, and Composer.
β’ Solid experience working with healthcare data (claims, clinical, HL7, PHI/PCI, lab, pharmacy).
β’ Proven ability to design end-to-end solutions, not just migrations.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
β’ Excellent communication and organizational skills.
β’ Cloud experience with GCP preferred; AWS or Azure experience acceptable if from a build/development standpoint (not just migration).
