Gen AI Technical Architect

About the Role PG&E is seeking a Senior Technical Architect (Technology Lead) to support innovative clean energy and electrification initiatives. This role focuses on rapidly prototyping and implementing AI-driven and automation-based solutions that improve customer experience and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will blend technical hands-on expertise with strong collaboration skills to deliver scalable, modern technology solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design and build AI-powered tools and automation systems using low-code/no-code platforms, APIs, and automation frameworks. • Develop and implement AI agents to support programs such as EV selection and online home assessments. • Rapidly prototype, iterate, and deploy technology solutions in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors. • Bridge early-stage pilot solutions into enterprise environments while ensuring scalability and compliance. • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business goals. • Stay current on emerging AI, automation, and energy technologies to drive innovation. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. • 3+ years of software development or technical implementation experience. • Proven experience building systems using AI, including agents or AI-powered tools. • Strong background in low-code/no-code development, APIs, and automation tools. • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environments. Desired Qualifications • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, or advanced AI/ML systems. • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor). • Experience in product management, writing user stories, and collaborating with customers. • Background integrating pilot programs into enterprise IT systems. • Knowledge or passion for clean energy, EV adoption, or home electrification technologies. • Prior experience in innovation labs or startup environments. Work Model Hybrid – typically one day per month onsite at PG&E’s Oakland office, with occasional additional visits as required. Out-of-state candidates are acceptable but must travel to Oakland on short notice (at own expense).
