Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Image Factory Developer to support the creation and management of pre-configured, reusable VM images for Linux and Windows environments. This role will involve developing automation for image customization, software packaging, and privileged access provisioning, helping to eliminate repetitive server build cycles. You'll work with engineering teams and contribute to building scalable image templates deployable in modern and legacy data center environments.
Responsibilities:
β’ Design and build automated VM image pipelines for Linux and Windows using tools like
Packer, Ansible, and Terraform.
β’ Integrate custom Ansible Playbooks and software packages into base images.
β’ Implement privileged access configuration into the image for testing and re-deployment.
β’ Build and manage image lifecycle workflows using laC principles.
β’ Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and app teams to capture software and access requirements.
β’ Support deployment to Kubernetes or container platforms when applicable.
β’ Integrate with internal tools and APls for image cataloging and provisioning.
Required Skills:
β’ Strong experience with Linux and Windows OS customization
β’ Hands-on with Packer, Ansible, Terraform, Cross plane, bootc
β’ Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell
β’ Experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Podman, and containerization
β’ Understanding of REST APIs
β’ Familiarity with Red Hat Developer Hub (Backstage) is a plus
