Lead Data Scientist

Overview We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to drive advanced data science initiatives and guide a growing team. This role starts with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical contributions and will transition into a leadership role, where you will mentor and lead a small but expanding group of Data Scientists. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and communication skills, making them equally effective at building models and shaping strategy. Key Responsibilities • Serve as a senior individual contributor (IC), designing and deploying data-driven solutions with a focus on LLMs, machine learning, and advanced analytics. • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior data scientists, setting standards for modeling, coding practices, and experimentation. • Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to define opportunities, shape data strategy, and deliver impactful insights. • Translate complex technical results into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders and executives. • Lead by example in hands-on development with Python and SQL, building scalable models, pipelines, and experiments. • Play a pivotal role in growing the team, influencing the roadmap, and establishing best practices for long-term success. Qualifications • 7-10+ years of professional experience in data science, applied machine learning, or related fields, with a track record of senior-level contributions. • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL; strong experience with LLMs and modern ML frameworks. • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects end-to-end, from problem framing through deployment. • Excellent communication skills; able to bridge technical and business perspectives with clarity. • Experience mentoring or leading small teams, with the ability to grow into a broader management role. • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
