Job Title: Machine Learning Engineer Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential to extend or convert to FTE)Location: Los Altos, CA 94022-1003Work Mode: 90% Remote – Hybrid Schedule Required Work Schedule Options Option 1: 4-day workweek (10-hour days) with Fridays off. Option 2: Standard workweek (4 days remote, minimum 1 day onsite). Note: Candidate must be local to Los Altos, CA. All consultants are provided 10 PTO days per calendar year. Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with strong expertise in AI/ML systems and automotive applications. This role involves building and optimizing large-scale foundation models and supporting advanced AI research and development. Responsibilities: Design, train, and deploy machine learning models with a focus on foundation models (VLMs, text-to-video, etc.). Leverage distributed training and advanced optimization methods including quantization, mixed precision, model parallelism, data parallelism, or FSDP. Apply state-of-the-art techniques in behavior learning, natural language, and/or computer vision. Work with data pipelines, model serving, cloud training, and dataset management. Collaborate on rapid prototyping and transition to production-ready implementations. Follow best practices in software engineering: unit testing, documentation, code review, continuous integration, and dependency management. Qualifications: 4+ years of professional ML engineering experience in an AI/ML-focused environment. Hands-on expertise with PyTorch. Automotive domain experience is mandatory. Strong proficiency in Python and modern development workflows.
