Role description
My Financial Services client is seeking to recruit an Oracle Data Warehouse Architect on an initial 6 month contract for a Financial Services client based in London. It is hybrid and will require 3x days onsite per week. You will design, optimize, and maintain Oracle-based data warehouse solutions to ensure high performance, scalability, and alignment with business intelligence and analytics needs. This role requires the individual to design and optimize Oracle-based data warehouse systems, ensuring they are scalable, high-performing, and aligned with business analytics needs. They will collaborate closely with the head of the data team and .NET developers, applying advanced data modelling, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be able to translate complex technical insights into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Skills Required: • Strong experience in designing and developing efficient ETL processes to support enterprise-scale Oracle Data Warehouse environments. • Proven ability to optimize and tune complex SQL and PL/SQL scripts for performance, while guiding development teams on best practices for data modelling, indexing, and partitioning strategies. • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving issues in ETL workflows and data pipelines, with a focus on maintaining data quality and system reliability. • This role may occasionally require early morning or late-night support as part of a second-line support rotation, particularly during critical data loads or performance incidents. • Ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of production and non-production Oracle Data Warehouse environments, including regular monitoring of data integrity, system health, and capacity planning. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data warehouse performance, ETL processes, and data availability, including coordination with global Oracle support teams in New York and Ireland when necessary. • Design and maintain disaster recovery strategies for the Oracle Data Warehouse, ensuring business continuity and alignment with enterprise recovery objectives. • Collaborate with development, application support, and technical teams to address data-related issues, acting as a second-line support resource for complex warehouse and ETL challenges. • Engage with global technical teams to review and discuss architectural improvements, performance trends, and development impacts on the data warehouse environment. • Serve as a technical consultant on data architecture, modelling, and performance optimization for cross-functional projects and initiatives. • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes by development teams on the data warehouse structure and performance, recommending alternative solutions where appropriate. • Support the rollout of development changes in collaboration with global DBA teams, ensuring proper documentation and version control of all modifications.
