Role description
24-month contract (likely to extend/convert to FTE)
Charlotte, NC or Iselin, NJ
Hybrid schedule (3 days in office/week)
Work with the brightest minds at one of the largest financial institutions in the world. This is a long-term contract opportunity that includes a competitive benefit package! Our client has been around for over 150 years and is continuously innovating in today's digital age. If you want to work for a company that is not only a household name, but also truly cares about satisfying customers' financial needs and helping people succeed financially, apply today.
We are looking for a Platform Services Engineer to help build and scale our on-premise Data Platform as a Service (DPaaS), enabling internal teams to deploy, operate, and extend analytic and application services. This role focuses on platform engineering, not data processing — you’ll be building the systems and APIs that developers depend on.
What You’ll Do
• Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, configure, and implement software solutions for platforms, integrations, pipelines, and services using diverse programming languages, technologies, and development methodologies.
• Design and build internal platforms, self-service tooling, APIs, and backend services (FastAPI preferred) to support CI/CD orchestration, developers, and analytic teams.
• Deploy, manage, and extend containers (via APIs and GUIs) and work with distributed systems and message queues (RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, ARQ, etc.).
• Ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, performance, and durability of platform services through monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing.
• Participate in automated delivery of software using source control and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) throughout the entire delivery lifecycle.
• Collaborate with platform and operations teams to cloud-enable applications and services, improving overall system resilience and scalability.
• Write, maintain, and automate unit, integration, and platform-level tests to ensure software quality.
• Deliver documentation (testing, training, and software delivery) that contributes ongoing value and supports long-term maintainability.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong experience with SQL for data validation, cleansing, and transformation
• Proven ability to build Python-based microservices
• Experience developing and supporting API servers for microservice architectures
• Proficiency with Python libraries such as Pandas, Requests, and Asyncio
• Familiarity with testing and code quality tools (tox, pytest, pycodestyle, black, pylint)
What We’re Not Looking For
• Candidates who only rely on GUI-driven tools or “magic” frameworks without understanding internals
• Profiles with limited startup-only experience and no exposure to high-availability, enterprise environments
•
• W2 - No C2C Opportunities at this time
