Power Platform Developer

Job Title: Senior Power Platform Developer Location: Remote Department: Department of Information Technology (DoIT) Reports To: EPMO Program Manager and Application Manager Employment Type: Contract Position Summary: The New Mexico Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking a Senior Power Platform Developer to support its Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) modernization efforts. This role will be critical in designing and implementing scalable, user-friendly solutions using Microsoft Power Platform to improve project tracking, reporting, and collaboration across state agencies. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a consultative mindset, and a passion for public sector innovation. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the design and development of custom applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven) to support EPMO workflows and reporting needs. • Automate project management processes using Power Automate, including approvals, notifications, and data integrations. • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards to provide real-time visibility into project performance, resource utilization, and strategic metrics. • Collaborate with EPMO leadership and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions aligned with modernization goals. • Integrate Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Azure, and other state systems. • Establish and maintain documentation standards for all Power Platform solutions to ensure transparency, maintainability, and compliance. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and agency staff. • Support change management and user adoption efforts through training, demos, and stakeholder engagement. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in application development, with at least 3 years focused on Microsoft Power Platform. • Proven experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse. • Strong understanding of project management principles and experience supporting PMO or EPMO functions. • Experience integrating Power Platform with Microsoft 365, Azure, and legacy systems. • Proficiency in JavaScript, JSON, SQL, and PowerShell. • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially in public sector environments. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with state or local government agencies. • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall project methodologies. • Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-600, or PL-900. • Knowledge of AI Builder, Power Virtual Agents, and Copilot Studio.
