Product Owner

Our client is seeking a Senior Product Owner for a contract role in the Phoenix, AZ area. This role is an Onsite role 5 days a week. Main Responsibilities • Manage and prioritize product backlog in Jira • Create and refine: • EPICs • Features • User stories • Acceptance criteria • Translate business needs into technical requirements • Work closely with engineering and architecture teams • Support: • PI planning • Sprint planning • Backlog refinement • Make day-to-day prioritization and scope decisions • Coordinate cross-team dependencies and integrations • Help shape product processes within a new organization • Ensure enterprise scalability, reuse, and compliance standards Must-Have Skills Experience Required • 6–8+ years experience Core Skills 1. Strong Jira backlog management experience 1. Agile/Scrum/SAFe experience 1. Writing user stories & acceptance criteria 1. Product ownership experience 1. Enterprise platform/shared services experience 1. Experience with APIs, integrations, and cross-team dependencies 1. Strong stakeholder communication 1. Product strategy and prioritization experience Nice-to-Have Skills • Financial services or regulated industry experience • Confluence documentation experience • Metrics/dashboard exposure • Experience helping build product processes in newer organizations Soft Skills • Strong communicator • Team player • Self-starter/go-getter • Comfortable asking questions • Collaborative mindset Education • Bachelor’s degree required
