Role Type: Contract Consultant on 1099 or C2C Title: Project Director for a Data Center Migration Start Date: Oct 3rd 2025 End Date: June 30, 2026 Location: Nashville, TN. (Remote with Required Onsite Work) Role Summary Seasoned IT leader responsible for directing the migration of on-premises VMware servers and applications to AWS or alternate cloud environments. Oversees all phases of program delivery including planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality assurance. Acts as primary liaison with customer project managers to ensure alignment with business objectives, compliance requirements, and operational continuity. Key Responsibilities Lead enterprise-scale cloud migration programs, including VMware-to-cloud workloads and data center transitions. Develop and manage migration roadmaps, budgets, and governance frameworks. Coordinate with customer project managers, executive sponsors, and vendor partners to ensure collaboration and transparency. Oversee cross-functional teams of architects, engineers, and operations staff to ensure timely and secure migration delivery. Ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory standards throughout the migration lifecycle. Track KPIs and report progress to leadership. Qualifications & Experience 12+ years of IT project/program management, with 5+ years leading cloud or data center migration initiatives. Proven experience migrating VMware environments to AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms. PMP certification required; Agile/Scrum certification preferred. Cloud certifications strongly preferred (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, etc.). Deep knowledge of VMware (vSphere, ESXi, NSX) and cloud-native equivalents.
