The Role
We are looking for an experienced, proactive and commercial Resource Manager to deliver Resource Management across a number of teams within Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA).
This is an exciting opportunity for a Resource Management professional to apply their expertise, knowledge and to drive continuous improvement across the function. This is a role that directly interacts with our fee earning teams, working with closely Partners and Associates to deliver exceptional Resource Management across EMEA.
Resource Management is part of our broader EMEA People & Culture (P&C) teams. Being part of P&C means that we collaborate with Business Partners, Talent, Recruitment and many other teams.
The role reports into a Senior Resource Manager and is part of a team of 7 Resource Management professionals. This role is London based and requires attendance at the London office at least 2 days per week. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities
• Optimise the allocation of work and the deployment of staff based on projected workflows and individual preferences and development goals
• Act as an objective and trusted advisor to the Partners by understanding resourcing requirements and the wider needs of the business to facilitate effective decision making
• Support continuous improvement of the resourcing framework and implementation across the firm as part of the overall resourcing strategy
• Proactivity in seeking opportunities to further promote and enhance the resourcing framework
• Support the firm with the deployment of a bespoke Resource Management tool across your teams in EMEA, focusing on adoption and the implementation process for your teams
• Optimise allocation of work and the deployment of associates based on demand, being agile in your support to teams to improve utilisation and profitability of teams and matters
• Collaborative and consultative approach, supporting performance management, talent engagement and diversity, equity and inclusion, in collaboration with the wider People and Culture teams
• Leading projects and initiatives both within Resource Management team and the wider People and Culture teams
• Oversee analysis of business forecasting e.g. chargeable hours and proactively drive resourcing decisions and positive behaviours
• Identify and implement appropriate solutions to alleviate high / low utilisation, increasing mobility and agility across EMEA
• Challenge requests and deal with potential resource escalations, making decisions on conflicting demands and facilitating RM objectives
• Support the internal Fee Earner recruitment process by monitoring and analysing skill gaps and utilisation trends.
• Support the performance and counselling process within the business, including management of high and low performers, working closely with HR
• Attend regular operational management meetings, providing management support and actionable insight on the management of practice areas
• Provide insight MI to Partners and business leaders, including utilisation and availability reports and other information, as required
• Proactive management of Resource Management technology - ensuring it is maintained and accurate for your teams, driving behaviours of adoption across your teams
Skills And Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have proven resource management experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
• Trusted advisor who provides balanced, pragmatic advice around work allocation to their teams
• Experience of working in a Resourcing role (workforce planning / scheduling / etc.)
• Robust, resilient and agile
• Able to drive change; providing challenge and problem solving through innovative thinking.
• Ability to influence and challenge effectively
• Able to build relationships at all levels and be credible with senior stakeholders
• Experience of conflict resolution, with the ability to manage complex conflicts between numerous parties, including senior stakeholders
• Logical thinker with strategic and pragmatic analytical skills
• Excellent IT skills - particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word), advantageously dashboard use - particularly PowerBi and Tableau
• Experience of using Resource Management Technology
