Role description
Position Title: Senior AI/ML Engineer Location: Washington, DC Clearance Requirements: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance Position Status: Contract Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications Position Description: We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior AI/ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions in a mission-critical environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong background in Python development, machine learning model creation, and deploying cloud-based AI applications. You will work independently and collaboratively across teams to solve complex data challenges, develop predictive models, and build production-grade applications using modern tools like TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Spark, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). This position offers an opportunity to work on high-impact, innovative projects that integrate agentic AI workflows, ethical AI practices, and large-scale enterprise data systems. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement scalable machine learning models and algorithms. • Build and maintain data pipelines: data acquisition, cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering. • Deploy AI/ML applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) using Docker and Kubernetes. • Integrate AI solutions with existing enterprise systems, including MCP servers and APIs. • Apply core Python programming for automation, data processing, and application development. • Utilize big data tools and frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop to develop large-scale data solutions. • Follow software engineering best practices: version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews. • Create technical diagrams, architecture documentation, and clear code annotations. • Apply ethical data science principles: bias mitigation, privacy protection, and secure coding. • Develop technical and executive-level presentations and reports using tools like PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, and Word. • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to PoC development and innovation initiatives. • Lead or oversee team efforts on large, visible enterprise projects. Required Skills & Education: • 13–20 years of relevant professional experience in AI/ML, data science, or software engineering. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree). • Proven experience building and deploying Python-based AI/ML applications in production environments. • Proficiency with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Spark MLlib). • Hands-on experience with cloud services for data science and AI/ML (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP AI Platform). • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases for data querying and management. • Experience with API development and system integration in large-scale ecosystems. • Ability to document, present, and communicate complex technical solutions clearly. • Proficiency in using Microsoft Visio, Draw.io, or similar tools for creating technical diagrams. • Experience with generative AI, prompt engineering, and integrating agentic AI workflows is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: • MCP server development and integration experience. • Proficiency with Power BI, Excel, and advanced data visualization tools. • Familiarity with secure coding practices, data ethics, and model bias mitigation. • Experience leading teams or overseeing technical efforts in a large IT enterprise. • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset.
