FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to work for our client within the insurance sector. This role requires hands-on experience with Power BI, paginated reports, and data model augmentation, particularly integrating Excel-based data sources. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and reporting best practices in a regulated environment. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder.
β’ Enhance and extend existing semantic data models to incorporate new data sources, including Excel and flat files.
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable reporting solutions.
β’ Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards and support fraud analytics initiatives.
β’ Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality, consistency, and performance optimization.
β’ Support the deployment and maintenance of reports in a production environment.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ 5+ years of relevant and proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in a commercial or regulated environment.
β’ Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and data transformation techniques.
β’ Experience with Power BI Report Builder for paginated reports.
β’ Ability to work with and integrate Excel-based data into enterprise models.
β’ Solid understanding of data modelling principles, ETL workflows, and ideally medallion architecture.
β’ Familiarity with data governance, reporting controls, and auditability.
Desirable
β’ Experience in insurance, fraud analytics, or regulatory reporting.
β’ Exposure to Azure Data Services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse).
β’ Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
β’ Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
