FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to work for our client within the insurance sector. This role requires hands-on experience with Power BI, paginated reports, and data model augmentation, particularly integrating Excel-based data sources. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and reporting best practices in a regulated environment. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder. • Enhance and extend existing semantic data models to incorporate new data sources, including Excel and flat files. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable reporting solutions. • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards and support fraud analytics initiatives. • Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality, consistency, and performance optimization. • Support the deployment and maintenance of reports in a production environment. Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of relevant and proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in a commercial or regulated environment. • Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and data transformation techniques. • Experience with Power BI Report Builder for paginated reports. • Ability to work with and integrate Excel-based data into enterprise models. • Solid understanding of data modelling principles, ETL workflows, and ideally medallion architecture. • Familiarity with data governance, reporting controls, and auditability. Desirable • Experience in insurance, fraud analytics, or regulatory reporting. • Exposure to Azure Data Services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse). • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases. • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
