Role description
Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Hybrid (Belfast) – Must have own laptop
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £440/day (umbrella)
The Role
As a Data Analyst, you will lead data-focused initiatives across multiple projects aimed at building and improving transaction monitoring and regulatory frameworks. You will act as a subject matter expert on data used in surveillance controls and help drive insights that strengthen risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Support multiple risk and control projects by gathering data requirements and sourcing relevant datasets
• Write SQL queries to extract, analyse, and validate data
• Document datasets, filters, and methodologies with clear rationale
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for data used in transaction monitoring controls
• Partner with stakeholders to review findings and recommend improvements
• Investigate data issues, identify root causes, and assess impact on end users
• Operate with autonomy while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards
Skills & Experience
• 4–8 years’ experience as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst
• Strong SQL skills (essential)
• Knowledge of financial instruments (especially bonds and derivatives) is highly desirable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing abilities
• Experience working with globally distributed teams
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience)
