Senior Data Engineer
Location: Cincinnati, OH (On-site β 5 days/week)
Duration: 1+ Year Contract
Position Summary:
The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, and support modern, scalable data solutions β including tools, platforms, APIs, and processes β to collect, store, process, and deliver data for a variety of business needs. This role will work with both on-prem and cloud data platforms (Snowflake), and support solutions across ETL, analytics, BI, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines, APIs, and tools.
β’ Collaborate with application teams, architecture, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
β’ Troubleshoot complex system and application issues related to design, performance, integration, and security.
β’ Research and recommend new technologies and best practices in data engineering, architecture, and security.
β’ Build and support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools.
β’ Provide escalation support for critical incidents and maintain reliable data operations.
β’ Contribute to internal projects, including legacy system replacement, monitoring, analytics improvements, and documentation.
β’ Mentor and guide junior team members.
β’ Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
β’ 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
β’ Advanced SQL skills, including writing complex queries and stored procedures (5+ years).
β’ 2+ years working with Snowflake Cloud Database.
β’ 1+ years working with DBT.
β’ Hands-on experience in one or more areas: big data technologies, ETL tools, metadata management, BI/reporting tools, messaging systems, data warehousing, Java, version control, CI/CD tools, infrastructure automation, cloud platforms, or REST API design.
β’ Solid understanding of application and data security best practices.
β’ Strong written and verbal communication skills β able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Experience working with offshore teams preferred.
β’ Financial industry experience is a plus.
