We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer / BI Developer to join our data and analytics team. This position will operate within an Agile/Scrum development environment, collaborating with team members to design, develop, test, and support solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the agency. The ideal candidate will lead and contribute to the architecture and implementation of scalable data warehouse and business intelligence systems, with a strong focus on cloud-native technologies, ETL development, and enterprise data management best practices. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines and BI solutions in a cloud-native environment. • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory. • Model and maintain star schema data structures, including fact and dimension tables. • Integrate data from a variety of structured and semi-structured sources including databases, flat files, APIs, and cloud storage. • Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and views to support data transformation and reporting. • Design and publish reports and dashboards using Power BI Service. • Apply data governance, data quality, and data lineage best practices. • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with business stakeholders to define and deliver solutions aligned with user needs. • Troubleshoot ETL failures, data anomalies, and performance issues. • Contribute to and follow DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and source control. Required Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience with ETL/ELT tools such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory. • 3+ years of experience with cloud-based platforms such as Azure Synapse Analytics or Microsoft Fabric. • 3+ years of advanced SQL development experience (complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning). • 3+ years building and maintaining star schema models and supporting documentation. • 3+ years of experience using Power BI Service for data visualization and reporting. • Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and lineage principles. • Experience integrating data from multiple sources including relational databases, APIs, and cloud storage. • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for data integration workflows. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for addressing ETL and performance issues. • Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting technical content. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or DevOps environments. Highly Desired Qualifications: • Microsoft certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or SQL Server certifications. • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
