Senior Data Engineer Spark, Scala, AWS. Hybrid, Rhode Island

Client Description: Not your typical data engineer, must have strong Functional Programming in either Spark Scala, Java, or Python/Pyspark. The preference is Scala. W2 only for this role, corp to corp will not be accepted. Hybrid 2 weeks per month onsite in Smithfield, RI Our client’s Data Solutions team requires a Senior Data Engineer focused on Spark Scala, AWS, and Snowflake to support critical compensation data initiatives. The role contributes to scalable data solutions and analytics capabilities, with visibility to executive leadership. W2 engagement only with a potential multi-year contract. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $65 to $72.50 Responsibilities • Partner with technology stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions. • Design scalable technical solutions aligned to business needs and architecture roadmap. • Implement test-driven development and continuous integration and delivery in support of DevOps. • Prioritize work and deliver in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality. • Adapt to evolving technologies and identify technical debt with remediation recommendations. • Lead production rollout activities for operational and analytical databases. • Communicate effectively with extended teams and collaborate across squads. The Expertise We’re Looking For: • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required with 8+ years of design and development experience. • Strong experience with these database technologies – Snowflake, Oracle • Experience in Object-Oriented Software development with Scala or Java and/or Python • Hands on experience with Spark (Java or Scala), use of AWS EMR as the infrastructure for execution both an advantage • Experience in Cloud technologies (AWS), including Docker and EKS • Experience building scalable and robust ETL solutions, Business Intelligence, Databases or Data lakes such as Snowflake. Expertise in SQL. • Strong design and analysis skills for a large data platform • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Maven, Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Docker, Artifactory etc.) • Experience of working within an agile scrum development environment • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent collaboration skills to work with multiple teams in the organization. • Financial Services industry experience preferred but not essential. Education Requirements • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technology-related field such as Engineering or Computer Science. • AWS-related certifications are a plus. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
