Role description
Job Title: Senior Data Scientist (Economist)
Location: Remote
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Pay Rate: $80-100/hr. on W2
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced measurement and analytics for in-store initiatives within a large-scale retail environment. This role will own the end-to-end measurement strategy, ensuring analytical rigor and actionable insights across pilot programs and non-traditional experiments. This position is ideal for a data scientist who thrives in ambiguity, brings a consultant mindset, and can translate complex analytical findings into clear business impact.
Primary Objective:
Own the end-to-end measurement methodology and analytical rigor for in-store measurement.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design robust measurement strategies for:
β’ Small-scale pilots
β’ Non-randomized experiments
β’ Develop and implement counterfactual frameworks and causal inference models
β’ Conduct power analysis, minimal detectable effect (MDE) calculations, and experiment diagnostics
β’ Build scalable experimentation pipelines leveraging automation and AI (βvibe codingβ)
β’ Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, decision-ready insights for stakeholders
β’ Partner cross-functionally with business, finance, and product teams to align measurement with business goals
Basic Qualifications
β’ Masterβs or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
β’ 3+ years of experience in data science, experimentation, or applied econometrics
β’ Strong expertise in:
β’ Experimental design
β’ Causal inference (e.g., DiD, synthetic control, matching, IV)
β’ Statistical modeling and hypothesis testing
β’ Proficiency in Python and data querying (SQL); Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development workflows (βvibe codingβ)
β’ Experience working with large-scale datasets in production environments
