About the Role
As a Principal Data Science Security Engineer, you will join CLIENTβs Global Security Detection Engineering team β a world-class group focused on detecting and responding to sophisticated cyber threats. In this role, you will leverage AI, Machine Learning, and advanced data science techniques to proactively detect, investigate, and mitigate emerging and persistent cyber risks affecting CLIENT and its customers. This is both a strategic and hands-on technical role, requiring collaboration with multiple security and engineering teams across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Develop a multi-agent AI system leveraging the latest advancements in AI Engineering.
β’ Research, design, and implement data-driven algorithms for threat detection, behavioral analytics, vulnerability assessment, and prevention.
β’ Translate complex AI/ML model findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Stay current on the latest AI/ML and cybersecurity developments, tools, and threat intelligence.
β’ Build and optimize SIEM, SOAR, and other security automation use cases to support threat-informed defense strategies.
β’ Lead and deliver production-level projects in collaboration with SOC, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response teams.
β’ Maintain and enhance internal codebases and extend integrations for SIEM/SOAR tools.
β’ Design and document Security Operations-focused integrations and automations, including architecture diagrams and threat modeling.
β’ Support the Director of Detection Engineering in driving technical and strategic program initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
β’ Expertise in AI Engineering & LLMOps, including tuning/training language models, designing agents, implementing RAG, and building custom embeddings.
β’ Experience creating large datasets (BigQuery/BigLake) and knowledge graphs.
β’ 5+ years in the Data Science Lifecycle & MLOps (Python data science stack, model deployment, pipeline development).
β’ 8+ years in security engineering/automation, with at least 5 years in detection-focused automation or equivalent data science work.
β’ Proven leadership in complex technical projects.
β’ 5-7 years operational security experience (SOC, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response).
β’ Deep knowledge of SOC, SIEM, and security engineering best practices.
β’ Hands-on skills in scripting/programming or search query languages for security operations.
β’ Preferred: Splunk Cloud ES & Splunk SOAR (Phantom) expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
β’ Masterβs or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Physics, or Engineering.
β’ Deep understanding of Machine Learning theory, NLP, high-dimensional data, and time-series methods.
β’ Relevant publications in AI/ML, Data Science, or Cybersecurity.
β’ Knowledge of data observability, drift detection, and data quality management.
