Position: Senior DevSecOps SAP Engineer – IT TransformationJob Type: 12+ Months ContractLocation: Remote (Must work PST hours: 9 AM – 5 PM)Rate: Competitive / hr. W2 or C2C
Role Synopsis:
This is a strategic role that requires not only technical depth in platform security but also the ability to evaluate unique business requirements, such as justifying and securing non-standard access patterns or architecture decisions, and recommending secure alternatives that align with enterprise policies. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive at the intersection of security strategy, platform engineering, and cloud transformation—and who are passionate about advancing secure enterprise SAP environments.
We are seeking a highly seasoned DevSecOps Engineer (15+ years) with deep expertise in SAP security engineering and strong proficiency in DevSecOps and cloud platforms. This role is a key part of the Cybersecurity team supporting a large-scale transformation initiative to modernize and migrate SAP systems to the cloud. The ideal candidate will serve as a hands-on security advisor, ensuring enterprise SAP platforms—including S/4HANA, BOBJ, BW, GRC, and NetWeaver—are implemented and operated with robust, scalable, and compliant security controls.
Must-Have Requirements:
15+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in cybersecurity engineering and 3+ years focused specifically on SAP platform security.
Deep hands-on expertise with SAP environments, including S/4HANA, BOBJ, BW, GRC, and NetWeaver Gateway.
Proven experience integrating DevSecOps practices into SAP delivery lifecycles, including securing CI/CD pipelines.
Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and the shared responsibility model in hybrid SAP deployments.
Experience with SOX compliance, IAM controls, role management, segregation of duties (SoD), and SSO mechanisms.
Comfortable working closely with platform, development, and security teams to ensure “secure by design” and “secure by default” principles are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with SAP and integration teams to ensure security controls are embedded into design and deployment across cloud and on-premises environments.
Evaluate exceptions to security standards—such as platform-specific access or integration needs—and recommend secure, policy-aligned solutions.
Guide the implementation of secure access control, encryption, compliance auditing, and SSO frameworks.
Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and compliance reviews across the SAP landscape.
Create and maintain security documentation, architectural patterns, and operational guidance.
Enable continuous improvement by staying ahead of emerging SAP vulnerabilities, threat landscapes, and security innovations.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
Certifications: SAP Certified Technology Associate – Security, CISSP, CISM, or DevSecOps-specific credentials.
Familiarity with SAP RISE, SAP Clean Core, Cloud ALM, and cloud-native security tools.
Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and container security (Docker/Kubernetes).
Understanding of regulatory standards such as NERC CIP, GDPR, or HIPAA.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills, able to translate security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborative and influential, with a track record of driving security priorities across cross-functional teams.
Analytical mindset with the ability to make risk-based decisions that balance security, compliance, and operational needs.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: Up to $80.00 per hour
Schedule:
8 hour shift
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
