Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Data Analytics is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing and executing a data strategy that empowers evidence-based decisions across the organization. This role leads the development of a centralized data warehouse, enterprise analytics, and strong data governance practices. It also drives advanced analytics β including predictive modeling β to generate insights that improve outcomes, identify risks, and maximize impact. The position is instrumental in guiding strategic decisions, program innovation, and performance measurement across all sites and services.
Professional Experience:
β’ 10+ years of progressive experience in data analytics.
β’ Proven ability to build scalable data infrastructure, ideally in nonprofit, social impact, or healthcare settings.
β’ Proficiency in data science tools/languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
β’ Demonstrated experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
β’ Experience implementing data governance frameworks and managing data quality/stewardship.
β’ Exceptional communication skills β able to translate complex analytics into strategic insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Infrastructure
β’ Lead the development and execution of the organizationβs data strategy in alignment with overall goals.
β’ Oversee the creation of a centralized data warehouse and implement governance frameworks to ensure data integrity.
β’ Establish a measurement framework to evaluate program effectiveness and community impact.
β’ Collaborate with leadership to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress.
β’ Act as a strategic partner, translating insights into actionable decisions.
β’ Drive continuous improvement through internal reporting and program metrics.
Data Quality, Governance & Stewardship
β’ Develop and enforce data governance policies in partnership with IT, emphasizing integrity, privacy, and access.
β’ Maintain data dictionaries, metadata standards, and audit protocols.
β’ Ensure infrastructure security and regulatory compliance through collaboration with IT and vendors.
β’ Oversee data validation processes to uphold quality standards.
β’ Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local data regulations.
Advanced Analytics & AI
β’ Develop predictive models to enhance participant outcomes, optimize program delivery, and inform resource allocation.
β’ Leverage natural language processing (NLP) to analyze qualitative data and improve service insights and strategies.
β’ Apply geospatial analytics for site planning and assessing community needs.
β’ Monitor emerging trends in AI, automation, and data science to identify innovative solutions that advance organizational objectives.
Performance Reporting & Measurement
β’ Design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools in collaboration with IT.
β’ Lead organization-wide efforts to define, monitor, and communicate KPIs.
β’ Work closely with program and evaluation teams in support of grant management, ensuring accurate tracking, analysis, and reporting of program outcomes to support compliance.
β’ In partnership with the CEO, turn data into compelling stories that can be used to drive engagement and support.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership
β’ Collaborate with functional leaders across Program, Development, Finance, HR, Learning & Development, and IT to align data strategies with organizational goals.
β’ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand operational models and develop data collection processes that align with goals and funder requirements.
β’ Represent the organization in data-driven collaborations, research initiatives, and external presentations to advance thought leadership and partnership opportunities.
Preferred Education:
β’ Masterβs or Ph.D. in Data Science, Public Policy, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
β’ Experience with NLP tools and frameworks and GIS/geospatial platforms.
β’ Familiarity with logic models, outcomes frameworks, or evidence-based program evaluation.
