Senior Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure & Tooling | Hybrid in Seattle or Los Angeles, CA (NYC potentially) | Contract/W2 Only! There are no Corp-to-Corp options or Visa Sponsorship available for this position Optomi, in partnership with a leading global tech and media company, is seeking a Senior Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure & Tooling for a hybrid role based in Seattle or Los Angeles, CA (NYC may be considered). This engineer will join the Production Platform Foundations – Cloud Account Management (CAM) team, a key pillar of the company's infrastructure organization, focused on building secure, scalable cloud tooling and enabling AWS adoption at scale. This role is ideal for someone passionate about AWS infrastructure, security, and automation, and who thrives in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment supporting internal developer teams across the enterprise. What the right candidate will enjoy: β€’ Long-term contract (12 months) with strong potential for extension or conversion to FTE! β€’ Ownership of critical AWS infrastructure automation and tooling projects! β€’ High-impact, internal-facing role influencing infrastructure at scale! β€’ Collaborative, horizontal team working across multiple app and platform teams! Experience of the right candidate: β€’ 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, especially in IAM, networking, and cloud security best practices. β€’ 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred). β€’ Strong Python scripting skills for automation and tooling. β€’ Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts: VPCs, peering, PrivateLink, IPv4, DNS, and security groups. β€’ Deep expertise in IAM policies, roles, permissions, and troubleshooting access issues. β€’ Experience collaborating with internal development teams and technical stakeholders. β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Security Specialty, etc.). β€’ Familiarity with Docker, Spinnaker, Jenkins, or CI/CD platforms. β€’ Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates. β€’ Comfortable using GitHub and Markdown for documentation. β€’ Basic familiarity with front-end concepts (not required to code). Responsibilities of the right candidate: β€’ Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure tooling, with a focus on IAM, networking, and access management. β€’ Develop Python-based automation tools to support internal self-service capabilities. β€’ Build and maintain Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines to manage cloud infrastructure. β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud operations, such as IAM policies, service limits, and network connectivity. β€’ Guide development teams in AWS best practices, secure design, and cloud-native development. β€’ Take full ownership of projects from design to deployment. β€’ Document processes, tooling, and architectural decisions clearly in GitHub or internal platforms. β€’ Monitor and support inbound requests from developers via Slack, Jira, and other channels.
