Role description
Position Title: Java | API Developer
Location: Remote
Position Status: Contract to Hire
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java | API Developer to design, develop, and secure enterprise-grade APIs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in API Gateway technologies, OAuth 2.0, and REST API development with Java/Spring Boot, along with strong leadership skills to mentor developers and guide architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure APIs using Java/Spring Boot.
• Develop and enforce API security best practices, leveraging OAuth 2.0 and related frameworks.
• Work with API Gateway platforms (Kong Konnect or MuleSoft Flex Gateway preferred) for API management, routing, and monitoring.
• Lead architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
• Mentor junior developers and perform code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and Product Management.
• Optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience in API Gateway technologies (experience with Kong Konnect or MuleSoft Flex Gateway a plus).
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0 API security framework.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for REST API development.
• Experience mentoring developers and conducting code reviews.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with an ability to lead technical discussions.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Redis for caching and performance optimization.
• Exposure to Apache Spark and Kafka for data processing and streaming.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation using Jenkins.
• Experience deploying and managing workloads in Kubernetes.
• Monitoring and observability experience with Datadog or similar tools.
