Senior Power BI Developer

Location: Carlsbad, CA (Onsite/Hybrid – ( Contract) Client Industry: Pharmaceutical Job Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to join our pharmaceutical client’s analytics and reporting team in Carlsbad, CA. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-level Power BI solutions, ensuring performance, scalability, and data integrity. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights and contribute to the organization’s data-driven decision-making culture. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets to support business objectives. • Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and business analysts to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions. • Ensure best practices in data modeling, performance tuning, and data governance are followed. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior BI developers and analysts. • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance the organization’s overall data strategy and reporting maturity. Required Skills & Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Data Analytics, with at least 4+ years focused on Power BI. • Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M), and Dataflows. • Basic knowledge of Tabular Editor for advanced modeling and scripting. • Strong understanding of data modeling (star schema), performance tuning, and optimization of large datasets. • Exposure to Azure Data Services (Databricks, Synapse, SQL Database) preferred. • Familiarity with pharmaceutical/life sciences domain data (clinical, research, or commercial) is a plus. • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Good to Have • Experience with Microsoft Fabric. • Hands-on with Tabular Editor for deeper modeling capabilities. • Knowledge of ALM Toolkit for model comparison, deployment, and version control. • Exposure to JIRA for task management and agile collaboration. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
