Role description
Job Title: Senior Power BI Developer/Administrator Position Type: Contract Location: Remote (Should Work as per EST) Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer/Administrator with a strong background in modeling, report development, and platform administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Power BI solutions while ensuring optimal performance of the system. This dual role combines hands-on development with administrative oversight, making it ideal for someone who is equally comfortable writing DAX and managing Power BI tenant settings, security, and capacity. As a Power BI Administrator/Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic, user-friendly dashboards and reports that effectively translate business requirements into meaningful insights. You will build high-performance, scalable, and accurate data models using DAX expressions and Power Query for data transformation. On the administrative side, you will manage the Power BI environment, workspace permissions, and row-level security. Youโ€™ll oversee Power BI operations such as dataset refreshes and capacity management, ensuring consistent performance and availability. You will implement data lineage tracking, monitoring, and auditing. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience with Power BI (development and administration) Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query, and data modeling principles Proficient in SQL and integrating data from various sources (SQL Server, Excel, XML, APIs, etc.). Solid understanding of data governance and Power BI tenant management Experience with version control, ALM Toolkit, Power BI REST APIs, and deployment strategies Must have experience with Agile and Scrum and tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and SharePoint. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams Effective planning and time management skills with a track record of following through on commitments and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or related certification Experience with Fabric, Synapse, or other data-related platforms Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies Background in business or working directly with business intelligence customers Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or another technical major.
