Sr. Software Packaging Engineer – 15867 πŸ“ Locations (Hybrid – Any Office): β€’ Vienna, VA β€’ Winchester, VA β€’ Pensacola, FL β€’ San Diego, CA πŸ“… Experience Required: 10+ years Position Overview We are seeking a Sr. Software Packaging Engineer to support an enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management Initiative. This initiative will focus on identifying, assessing, and retiring legacy, redundant, and unsupported applications to reduce risk, cost, and complexity across the organization. The engineer will play a lead role in analyzing installed software, assessing usage/support status, collaborating with stakeholders, and executing decommissioning strategies while ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards. Responsibilities β€’ Lead and support full lifecycle EOL software project activities. β€’ Conduct environment-wide software discovery and usage analysis. β€’ Identify unsupported, vulnerable, or redundant software titles. β€’ Coordinate with project managers, security, compliance, and engineering teams. β€’ Manage risks, issues, and change requests. β€’ Document findings, decisions, and remediation plans. β€’ Provide technical leadership on software lifecycle management. β€’ Present findings and recommendations to both technical and business audiences. Standard Packaging Responsibilities β€’ Pre-packaging research and validation. β€’ Software packaging, repackaging, and quality control validation. β€’ MECM integration and application creation. β€’ Validation of install/uninstall via MECM. β€’ Active Directory group setup (Test/Prod OU). β€’ Collaborate with customers on UAT. β€’ Create user/device collections via Right-Click Tool or manual queries. β€’ Pilot deployment and production rollout through MECM (with change tickets). β€’ Retire/delete old versions in AD, MECM, and MDT. β€’ Notify appropriate groups and ensure cleanup of retired/new software. Qualifications Required: β€’ Strong understanding of software lifecycle and EOL processes. β€’ Expertise with PowerShell, SQL, WQL, Power BI, and software inventory tools. β€’ Experience with Change Management Processes (initiating, documenting, submitting tickets). β€’ Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM). β€’ Proficiency in packaging, repackaging, and deployment technologies. β€’ Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Mac, or VDI enterprise environments. β€’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Desired (Nice-to-Have): β€’ Splunk / UberAgent experience. β€’ InstallShield or Liquidware FlexApp experience. β€’ 3+ years dedicated Software Packaging Engineering experience.
