We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading financial services clients! They are currently looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their team for a contract until the end of November.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
You will leverage your expertise in Software Development, along with your DevOps proficiency across AWS and GCP, to design and implement resilient frontend client, backend services, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native solutions. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact systems within a secure, high-availability environment at one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
1. Design, develop and maintain highly available, secure, and performant backend REST API services along with frontend client using Python, GoLang, Docker and Cloud-Native services.
1. Implement and manage database schema changes using Liquibase, ensuring alignment with compliance and audit standards.
1. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps and Security teams, with a focus on traceability and regulatory controls.
1. Manage, monitor, and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, ensuring resilience, cost-efficiency, and data security.
1. Collaborate closely with infrastructure, architecture, and cybersecurity teams to meet internal risk, compliance, and governance requirements.
1. Support live systems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions for incidents and performance bottlenecks.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
1. Comes from Software Engineering background with infrastructure experience.
1. Development experience with a strong focus on large-scale, distributed systems.
1. Proficient in Python and GoLang.
1. Experience with Liquibase or similar tools for database change management and version control.
1. Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP, including cloud-native services, networking, IAM, and cost optimization. Experience with other cloud providers is desirable.
1. Proven experience with DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and containerization, Linux, Relational and NoSQL databases, building RESTful API Services, Containerisation, Kubernetes, serverless functions, Microservices, and distributed tracing.
1. Enterprise logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks (e.g., ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).
1. Automation scripting (using scripting languages such as Terraform, Ansible etc.).
1. Strong understanding of security principles in cloud and enterprise systems.
1. Familiarity with audit and compliance considerations in regulated industries, particularly finance or banking.
1. Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
1. A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes, using appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:
1. Experience working in financial services or other regulated environments.
1. AWS/GCP certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Engineer).
1. Good understanding of cryptography
