Introduction: We are seeking a skilled SQL and Power BI Data Analyst to join our IT team. This role is crucial for supporting our consumer-facing operations by developing and managing complex SQL queries and creating insightful Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in SQL programming and Power BI, including expertise in DAX and various data ingestion methods. Excellent communication and responsiveness are essential as you will be working directly with Associate Directors, Managers, and front-line operations. Key Responsibilities: • SQL Programming: • Write and maintain complex SQL queries for data discovery, creation, and management. • Utilize SPARKSQL/Databricks SQL to manipulate and retrieve data for Power BI dashboards. • Employ declarative variables (DECLARE/SET) and soft coding parameters in queries and subqueries. • Create and manage temporary tables to facilitate data manipulation. • Perform data scrubbing and preprocessing to ensure data accuracy and quality. • Optimize query performance using techniques such as partitioning, indexing, and scanning. • Design and manage stored procedures and Common Table Expressions (CTEs). • Apply common SQL functions and techniques, including wildcards, case statements, mathematical operations, group by, having, and where clauses. • Power BI: • Develop and maintain automated dashboards using server and/or serverless connections. • Utilize various data ingestion methods, including Direct Query, Import, and Live connections. • Write and optimize DAX code to enhance data analysis and reporting. • Create and manage automated dataflows to streamline data integration and processing. • Design and implement vibrant and actionable visualizations to support operational decision-making. • Implement drill-downs and cross-filtering features in reports for improved data exploration. • Collaboration and Communication: • Work directly with Associate Directors, Managers, and front-line operations to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions. • Communicate effectively to address business needs and ensure timely responses. Qualifications: • Required: • Minimum of 2 years of experience in SQL programming. • Proficiency with SPARKSQL/Databrick SQL. • Experience with writing complex SQL queries, query optimization, and data management. • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Power BI, including DAX coding and creating automated dashboards and dataflows. • Ability to create vibrant visualizations and implement advanced Power BI features such as drill-downs and cross-filtering. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with business stakeholders. • Nice to Have: • Experience with ServiceNow (CMDB, ITAM, APM) is a significant advantage. • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Databricks. • Knowledge of serverless (datalake) and server-driven (warehouse) data systems. • Experience with APIs and semi-structured data.
