Sr. Data Engineer - 100% Remote - Contract to Hire (C2H)

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer for a Contract to Hire position, and this is a 100% Remote role. Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in Data Engineering, Python, AWS/Azure, and SQL. Rate Range: $65-$75 per hour. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python and SQL/Snowflake. • Implement scalable and efficient event-driven architecture using services like Azure Event Grid, Event Hubs. • Work with messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, Azure Service Bus) to enable real-time data processing. • Build and optimize data lakes and warehouses on Azure (Data Lake Gen2, Data Factory). • Apply the medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to organize and optimize data processing workflows. • Ensure data quality, governance, and security through best practices and tooling. • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to support their data needs. • Monitor and optimize performance of data pipelines and storage solutions. Required Skills and Qualifications: • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role. • Proficiency in Python and strong SQL skills (Snowflake preferred). • Hands-on experience with Azure (preferred) or AWS cloud services. • Experience building event-driven pipelines using tools such as Azure Event Grid, Azure Functions, Kafka, or AWS Lambda. • Strong understanding of messaging systems and stream processing. • Familiarity with implementing medallion architecture in data lakehouses. • Experience with Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or other open table formats. • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data workflows. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
