Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer (Linux Systems Focus) Location: On-Site Contract: $80-100/hr Team: Engineering / Infrastructure Reports To: VP Product Engineering About the Role We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Linux systems administration to manage, secure, and automate our infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the command line, understands operating systems deeply, and wants to apply those skills in a modern DevOps environment. You'll work across provisioning, automation, monitoring, and production operations. Responsibilities β€’ Maintain, secure, and optimize Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS) β€’ Manage system-level components such as users, permissions, storage, filesystems, backups, and networking β€’ Automate provisioning and configuration using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or custom shell scripts β€’ Write and maintain systemd services, cron jobs, and backup/restore scripts β€’ Support containerized workloads using Docker or similar tools β€’ Build and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.) β€’ Monitor infrastructure health using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK β€’ Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and write postmortems β€’ Implement and maintain internal networking (DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers) β€’ Harden systems and enforce security best practices across the environment Required Qualifications β€’ 4+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or Linux systems administration β€’ Deep proficiency with Linux, system tools, and shell scripting (bash, zsh) β€’ Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, or similar) β€’ Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and common protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP) β€’ Familiarity with Docker and container lifecycle management β€’ Ability to troubleshoot performance issues and conduct kernel/network tuning Preferred Qualifications β€’ Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other production databases β€’ Exposure to monitoring/logging stacks (ELK, Loki, Nagios, etc.) β€’ Prior experience in hybrid or bare-metal environments β€’ Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean Why Join Us β€’ High ownership role with real impact on system stability, security, and performance β€’ Early-stage opportunity to shape infrastructure practices from the ground up β€’ Collaborative and technically strong team that values clean, maintainable systems β€’ Flexibility to introduce new tools and improve DevOps culture
