Analyst Vacancy at Blue Food Performance About Blue Food Performance Blue Food Performance is a young and ambitious company on a mission to transform fisheries and aquaculture by helping producers build stronger sustainability strategies. We work directly with industry to assess their current sustainability performance, using a range of methods, with a strong focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and then develop tailored strategies and tools to improve production practices. About the Role As an Analyst at Blue Food Performance, you will play a key role in shaping how our clients improve their sustainability practices. You will support the assessment of environmental performance and help translate these findings into practical sustainability strategies and tools. This is a varied role that combines research, data analysis, strategy development, and business development, offering exposure to both technical and client-facing work. As we are a young company, you will have the opportunity to take on responsibility early, contribute ideas that influence our direction, and grow alongside the company. We are looking for someone who is analytical, adaptable, and motivated by the challenge of building better food systems. Key Responsibilities ·       Conduct sustainability performance assessments for fisheries and aquaculture producers, with a focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and other environmental impact methodologies. ·       Support the development of sustainability strategies and tools to help producers improve production practices. ·       Collect, clean, and analyse data from diverse sources to generate clear, actionable insights. ·       Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and client deliverables that communicate findings in a compelling and accessible way. ·       Assist with knowledge sharing and visibility by contributing to social media content and other external communications. ·       Provide support with day-to-day operational and administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of projects and company activities. ·       Collaborate closely with team members to refine processes, test new ideas, and help build the foundations of a growing start-up. Essential Criteria ·       Degree (or equivalent experience) in environmental science, sustainability, fisheries/aquaculture, natural resource management, or a related field. ·       Strong analytical skills with experience in quantitative research, data analysis, and report writing. ·       Knowledge of sustainability assessment methods, with a particular interest in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and environmental performance metrics. ·       Familiarity with greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting frameworks, including the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, with an understanding of how to apply emission factors, system boundaries, and methodological guidance to assess environmental impacts in fisheries and aquaculture contexts. ·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. ·       Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. ·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for data management, reporting, and communication. ·       Strong understanding of how sustainability is perceived within the commercial sector. ·       Awareness of how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles contribute to long-term business value, including reputation, investment potential, and operational resilience. ·       Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a small, fast-paced team environment. ·       A proactive, adaptable mindset and willingness to contribute across a variety of tasks, from technical analysis to communication and operational support. Desirable Criteria ·       Practical experience conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). ·       Familiarity with environmental impact assessment tools, databases, or software (e.g. SimaPro, OpenLCA). ·       Proficiency in data analysis software such as R or Python, with the ability to manage, analyse, and visualise complex datasets. ·       Knowledge of fisheries and aquaculture production systems, supply chains, or certification schemes. ·       Basic understanding of database management (e.g. SQL) and WordPress management. Our Offer ·       Salary: £32,500 pa. ·       Full time (will consider part-time (0.8FTE) for the right candidate). ·       6-month fixed term contract, with possibility of permanent role. ·       Location: United Kingdom (remote working).
