In addition to core Tableau engineering responsibilities, this role provides flexible analytical and operational support
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, scorecards, and standardized reports to support the Chief of Staff Office's strategic, operational, and executive reporting needs.
β’ Serve as a hands-on Tableau engineer, building performant and scalable dashboards using Tableau Desktop and publishing to Tableau Server/Cloud.
β’ Develop and optimize Tableau data sources, including extracts, calculated fields, parameters, filters, and dashboard actions, ensuring usability and performance
β’ Apply Tableau best practices, visualization standards, and consistent design patterns across reporting deliverables
β’ Troubleshoot Tableau performance issues, data refresh failures, and user questions related to published dashboards and data sources
β’ Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries to source and transform data from multiple enterprise systems for reporting and visualization
β’ Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all reporting assets by validating results, reconciling discrepancies, and adhering to defined data quality standards
β’ Define, document, and maintain metric definitions, calculation logic, and business rules to support governance, transparency, and reuse across dashboards
β’ Partner with Chief of Staff leaders and business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and translate reporting requirements into effective visual analytics solutions
β’ Create executive ready Tableau content that clearly communicates trends, risks, priorities, and performance insights using strong data visualization and storytelling practices
β’ Support recurring executive reporting as well as ad hoc analytical requests aligned to Chief of Staff initiatives and priorities, including portfolio and initiative tracking
β’ Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes, reduce manual effort, and improve delivery speed and scalability
β’ Collaborate with analytics, data, and technology partners to align reporting solutions with enterprise data models and governance expectations
β’ Manage multiple reporting requests and deadlines effectively while maintaining high quality outputs.
Requirements:
β’ Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field preferred but not required, or equivalent practical experience
β’ 3+ years of experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles.
β’ Strong handsβon experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud.
β’ Advanced experience building Tableau calculations, parameters, filters, dashboard actions, and optimized visualizations.
β’ Strong SQL skills, including writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries against relational data sources.
β’ Experience working with enterprise data models, multiple source systems, and governed reporting environments.
β’ Proven ability to validate data accuracy, troubleshoot discrepancies, and deliver trusted reporting outputs.
β’ Experience translating business requirements into clear, executiveβready Tableau visualizations.
β’ Strong documentation skills for data definitions, metric logic, and dashboard usage guidance.
β’ Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fastβpaced environment.
β’ Works within established reporting standards and data models, contributing to—but not setting—enterprise analytics strategy.
β’ Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and executive storytelling principles.
β’ Experience building Tableau dashboards for KPI tracking, scorecards, prioritization, performance monitoring, and initiative tracking.
β’ Familiarity with Tableau data source optimization, extract management, refresh scheduling, and performance tuning.
β’ Experience enabling or supporting self service analytics for business users.
β’ Exposure to data governance, metric standardization, and reporting intake processes.
β’ Experience working in healthcare, insurance, or highly regulated environments (preferred, not re-quired).
β’ Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery models and cross functional collaboration.
β’ Ability to provide informal guidance or mentorship on Tableau best practices and standards
