Job Description
Optomi, in partnership with a top banking company, is seeking a Technical Lead with hands-on expertise in MuleSoft, API development, and enterprise integration platforms to join their high-performing engineering team. In this on-site role, you’ll serve as a technical architect and team lead—guiding senior developers, solving complex design challenges, and ensuring the successful delivery of critical integration projects within a leading financial services institution. This position is onsite in Chicago, Illinois and Minneapolis, Minnesota and is not accepting relocation.
What the Right Candidate Will Enjoy!
• Working in a senior-level team where deep technical experience and architectural decision-making are valued
• Leading with autonomy in an environment that expects strong technical ownership and leadership
• Driving integration projects involving cutting-edge platforms like MuleSoft and GoAnywhere
• Solving meaningful challenges in the financial services space, including API enablement and system modernization
• Opportunity for long-term extension or full-time conversion if a strong fit is demonstrated
Experience of the Right Candidate:
• 7+ years of professional experience in software development and technical leadership
• Strong hands-on experience with MuleSoft, particularly CloudHub and API Manager
• Proven ability to guide developers on best practices, architecture, and deployment pipelines
• Experience with backend systems integration, particularly in enterprise environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain and justify technical decisions to leadership and stakeholders
• Experience solving complex technical issues and contributing at both design and implementation levels
• Experience working in financial services or with platforms such as Fiserv Signature, DocuSign, and loan/deposit origination systems is a strong plus
• Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architecture is desirable
• Comfortable using tools like Jira for work tracking in non-sprint-based teams
Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:
• Serve as a hands-on technical architect and lead, designing robust solutions and guiding API and integration development
• Work closely with a team of experienced engineers—providing mentorship, technical direction, and code reviews
• Lead design and problem-solving efforts for integrating new platforms, building APIs, and enhancing existing systems
• Balance design and architecture work (50-75%) with hands-on coding (25-50%)
• Champion and enforce best practices in coding, deployment, and solution design
• Communicate technical decisions and direction effectively to leadership, project stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to platform scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability through sound engineering practices
