Business Analyst – Gas & Power Trading (Fundamental Balances) πŸ“ London Contract Hybrid Overview We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong expertise in European gas and power markets to support our trading and risk functions. The role will focus on analysing supply and demand fundamentals, translating market insights into actionable requirements, and supporting pre-deal decision-making. Key Responsibilities β€’ Analyse and interpret European gas and power supply–demand balances, including storage, transportation, and capacity constraints. β€’ Work closely with traders, risk managers, and quants to understand pre-deal challenges and design solutions. β€’ Map and optimise trading processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements. β€’ Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and liaise with development and data teams. β€’ Support the curation, validation, and integration of market data sets for trading analysis. β€’ Ensure documentation of business requirements, workflows, and data pipelines. β€’ Manage stakeholders across trading, risk, operations, and IT functions. Key Skills & Experience β€’ Strong understanding of European gas and power market dynamics, including drivers of price behaviour, market structures, and trading flows. β€’ Familiarity with trading instruments (e.g., forwards, options, structured products). β€’ Experience with storage and transportation capacity fundamentals. β€’ Proven business analysis skills: stakeholder engagement, requirement elicitation, process mapping, and documentation. β€’ Technical competency: ability to write SQL queries, familiarity with code branching/version control (e.g., Git), and comfort working with large data sets. β€’ Prior experience in a trading or risk management environment (energy, commodities, or financial markets). Desirable β€’ Exposure to energy trading risk management (ETRM) systems. β€’ Understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting European energy markets. β€’ Experience with Python, R, or data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
